Awkward moments in parenting

I don't have kids of my own but even I know that having them walk in on you and your partner would be... uncomfortable to say the least. Some people would never live down the shame and embarrasment. Others however see the hilarity of the situation. Soemthing makes me think that I would fall into the latter category (unless we were doing something that you have to look up on Urban Dictionary for a name). I don't know if I would record it and put it on youtube (actually I know I wouldn't) but this is probably more in line with how I would react

Rockin' the Suburbs

I feel like Ben Folds this week because I have been rockin' The Suburbs all week. Arcade Fire's new album The Suburbs that is. It was released on Tuesday and I haven't been able to turn it off since. I don't really have the words to describe how much I love this band. I could try but it would just fall short, very short of doing them any kind of justice. All I can say is that this album sounds different from Funeral and Neon Bible while still sounding ArcadeFire... if that makes sense. Here's a little taste:

Sad puppy!

Not an actual sad puppy like the one in the picture but I am kind of bummed today. Why? Because I am a die hard Habs fan and last night their season ended. So close yet still so far. Luckily for me, I am also a realist and I realize that what the Habs accomplished is something to be proud of. The team was completely dismantled and rebuilt in the off season, played only a handful of games with a healthy lineup and squeaked into the playoffs yet still somehow managed to make the conference final.

Unfortunately they met up with a Flyers team that underachieved in the regular season but found it's groove at the right time and actually got healthier as the playoffs progressed. Them being a 7th seed is misleading, a wolf in sheep's clothing if you will. And now they get to play a wolf in wolf's clothing in the Blackhawks. It is shaping up to be an incredible final.

Don't look at the regular season, look at both teams on paper and what they are doing now. Very similar outlooks. These teams are probably to two deepest teams up front (any team that can sit Andrew Ladd or Dan Carcillo is doing alright), top end talent on both bluelines and good goalies playing like great goalies.

I also like the matchup of Toews and Richards. I am sure they will have different assignments but will see their fair share of each other in the next couple of weeks.

Speaking of Richards, he did something last night that speaks a lot to the Flyers attitude. He touched the Conference trophy. The susperstitious (most hockey players are) don't do that because they feel it is bad luck. Richards said luck be damned, we earned this, lets enjoy it. He might not end up regretting it though and susperstition might play a part in it.

THE HOSSA CURSE!!!! Three different teams, three straight Stanley Cup finals. So far Marion Hossa is 0 for 2. If he loses again this year, he will officially become the broken mirror of the NHL. Something makes me think he won't have to worry about it though. The Flyers are going to have to deal with something this round that they haven't had to before.... Dustin Byfuglien (Bufflin). If the Hawks win, Toews will deservedly win the Conn Smythe but I think Byfuglien should get an honourable mention on .

Prediction: Hawks in 6 in what will be one of the best Stanley Cup Finals in some time.

It feels good to laugh

I love living in Newfoundland. Couldn't be in a better place. If I had one complaint though, it would be the barriers the geography creates for entertainment. It is expensive as all get out for high end entertainment to come here. I guess that is why it feels that much more satisfying when it does happen. Neil Young and Queens of the Stone Age will go down as two of the best concerts I have ever been to and they both happened at Mile One.

I caught wind of some incredible news last week about one of the finest stand up comedians on the planet, Louis C.K., coming to The Rock in a few weeks. Needless to say, i scooped up tickets as soon as possible. I don't even care if he tells jokes that I have heard a million times, I am just excited to see him live. June 5th can't get here fast enough.

Ole! Ole! Ole!

It feels good to say it when it actually means something. Although I am a die hard Habs fan, I am not one of the ones that start chanting it during a regular season, first period powerplay. Too much of a good thing people, too much of a good thing!

That being said, I love the pride that comes with being a Habs fan. Through thick and thin, we love this team. Well they most certainly gave us something to cheer about last night by coming back from being down 3 games to 1 to eliminate Washington in their own barn. In Halak we trust!

Thing is, it wasn't just because of hot goaltending that the Habs won those last three games (it was the main reason though). All of the players that Bob Gainey was chastised for signing in the off season were massive. The Smurfs (Cammy, Gionta & Gomez) were all heart and soul, especially Mike C who was clutch. Travis Moen gave the team some jump on the forecheck in game 5 that really set the tone going forward. And Hal Gill... oh how we take back everything we said about you during the regular season. Jaromir Jagr once said Gill is the toughest blueliner in the league to play against. Me thinks Alexander Ovechkin might concur.

It doesn't get any easier for the Habs as they now take on the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. In fact, I would say it is a tougher assignment because unlike the Caps, the Pens will adjust when something isn't working. When it comes to the playoffs, Crosby & Malkin >>>>>>>> Ovechkin & Semin.

Do I want the Habs to win this series (and the Cup)? Of course I do. Do I think they will? Seems like a tall order considering the energy they spent playing the Caps full tilt for 2 weeks but stranger things have happened. Or at least equally strange ('93 anyone?).

Regardless of the outcome, this edition of the Habs have made me proud to wear the Bleu, Blanc et Rouge. Vive les Habitants!

Murphy's Law

I don't know who this Murphy cat is but he (or she) has some 'splainin' to do! It is snowing like a mother in St. John's today. I know it is still April so I shouldn't be surprised and you know what? I'm not. The snow isn't my beef. The timing of it is.

We went weeks without a flake and then as soon as my girlfriend got her snow tires off, bam, we get dumped on. Seriously, it happened when her car was getting worked on.

Once that came and went, we barely saw even a hint of snow for 2 weeks. I decided it was a good time to get my car serviced and the tires changed. As soon as I did, bam again, snowing like a mother!

It leads me to ask, what happened to this Murphy character that pissed him/her off so much? They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? Well you are doubley screwed if that woman is a Murphy?

I guess today's life lesson is 'be nice to a Murphy!' If not, they'll get you back, big time!

Havin' a time!

My body hates me right now. It is completely exhausted but it was well worth it. Juno week just wrapped up in St. John's and it was absolutely unreal. So many highlights, so many great shows.

While most people were either at Mile One or on their couch watching, I was on George Street. I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. If you caught the show, you only saw a little bit of it. The party started a couple of hours before the broadcast. Kim Stockwood and Damhnait Doyle kicked it off with some modern versions of traditional NL tunes. Ricky & Bubbles of TPB's took over MCing duties and got screeched in with a couple of the lads from The Arkells and it was ridiculous. The Arkells tore up the stage after that. They left quite the impression on The Rock. Bubbles hopped back on stage to play Liquor & Whores and then handed it over to Deadmou5 who transformed George into a rave. Twas incredible.

After that, the show kicked in with Classified performing Oh Canada. I was a part of that crowd. If you watched from home and thought 'that looks like a pretty good time', you were only a quarter right. There is nothing quite like a street party on George. If/when the Junos return to St. John's, you'll know where to find me.

Exiled Back to Mainstreet

The Stones, you might love them, you might hate them but you have at least heard them. I doubt there is an English speaking, non Amish person on the planet that has not heard a Rolling Stones tune.

I wouldn't go as far to say that I am a massive fan. I am however over the moon about their run from 1968-72 when they released Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Mainstreet. Four of the finest rock albums ever assembled.

Well, Exile is getting the remastered treatment that is so popular right now. And with that comes new tunes that have been dug up, dusted off and released for your listening pleasure. The only catch is that the vocals were laid down recently. And while Mick is still a fine vocalist, he is not what he once was. Still though, this is maybe the best thing they have done since Some Girls.

Cooking with booze cont'd

Just a follow up to one of my previous blogs about using booze when cooking. The missus and myself were out the other night celebrating 365 days of putting up with each other ; ). One of the great things about our relationship is our shared love of dining out. We rarely go to the same place twice. Not because we can't find a good meal though. We just don't want to get stuck in a rut. We decided to spoil ourselves and check out one of the nicer resaurants in St. John's that was still on our bucket list, Blue on Water. We had heard mixed reviews, never bad but some just average so we went in with a bit of trepidation. It was completely unnecessary. It was one of the best meals we have had in the past year.

My meal was delicious (seafood bouillabaisse to start, roast pork on sweet potato mash with blueberry chutney as a main and some sort of ice cream rolled in hazelnut dessert). Not a complaint about it. Oh and a tasty pint of Guinness to wash it all down. I will seriously drink that stuff with anything.

My better half's meal was of particular interest to me because of how it incorporated booze in the cooking. For dessert she had Frangelico creme brulee which was terrific. It was her main course that made me jealous though. She had a beautiful striploin cooked to medium rare perfection. That itself would have made it great. What put it over the top though was the demi-glace they served it with. It was a combination of cayenne pepper, molasses and...wait for it... GUINNESS. By now you should know how much I love myself a pint of Ireland's finest. That being said, I never would have thought of combining it with cayenne pepper . Oh but how it works. It really added some punch to the meat. Loved it!

And that is the beauty of having a fully stocked fridge/liquor cabinet. You have a world of cooking ingredients you never would have thought of previously. The world is your oyster, have a shot of tequila with it!

Happy anniversary baby!

And by baby, I mean me. It just hit me that I have been living on The Rock for 2 years to this very day. Where the hell did the last 730 days go? Not that I am complaining. These have been the best two years of my life. Not in the way a 21 year old version of myself would consider a year great mind you. It is not because of the drunks (of which there has many) or sex (ditto, monogamous but plentiful... at times ; )). No, it has been a great couple of years because of all the reasons grown ups consider good.

Career: The move to St. John's from Alberta was a big step professionally. Job title, responsibility, pay... all were significant increases for someone in my industry (radio) for such a short period of time. I had only been gainfully employed as a broadcaster for 2 years at that point. Since then, I have continued to climb the radio food chain. In less than a year, I have landed a pretty primo spot on one of the local morning shows. All without even trying to position myself for the gig. It literally just happened because one of the higher ups saw me being me and thought it would be a good fit. That is a pretty validating feeling.

Personal: I moved here on March 31st and by Labour Day weekend, I was in possession of my first set of house keys (and mortgage payment, blargh!) . Something I could never have considered when I lived in Alberta. It was a great time to get in on the housing market too. Things have blown up since so trying to buy my first house now would put me back in that Alberta state of mind.

And after a few years of being career first, the universe, cupid, satan, who/whatever decided it was time to reward me with a significant other. And she is pretty significant (not in a fat way, she is hot as rocks!). Significant in the way that makes you enjoy life more, makes you like yourself more. To use a local turn of phrase, she's Best Kind!

Speaking of anniversaries, it was 61 years ago today the Newfoundland & Labrador joined Confederation. She was a tight vote then and there are still many locals that wish it had gone the other way. I am glad it worked out the way it did. Canada would be a hell of a lot more boring if NL weren't a part of it. Not to mention, she's been pretty kind to me.

Thanks for having me Newfoundland, long may your big jib draw!

Great White Buffalo

My oh my, what a time at the cinema yesterday. I am still trying to articulate the hilarity that is Hot Tub Time Machine. Honestly, it was a top 5 laugh out loud cinema experience for me. Does that mean I think it is one of the funniest movies of all time? Hard to say because it takes time for a movie to take a place on that mantle. The timing couldn't have been better though. I went to see some stand up comedians the night before and the headliner was a prop comic/magician. I know, I know... not my idea. Needless to say though, I was in need of a good laugh

If you are a product of the 80s, this movie will destroy your ribcage. It stinks of 80s. That's a good thing. It isn't just that it is set in 1986 so it looks like 1986. It feels like an 80s comedy which is arguably the best decade ever for comedies. The advantage HTTM has though is that censors let a lot more go now than they did 24 years ago (when the movie was set).

The movie has been compared to (and held up to) The Hangover which I sort of get. It is about 4 buddies on a drunken journey. The similarities end there though. In The Hangover, the guys are trying to piece together what happened in the recent past. In HTTM, the guys know exactly how the day plays out and it is up to them to relive it (or do it differently if they so choose). It is like Hangover meets Back to the Future meets Groundhog Day meets Ski School 2.

Oh and speaking of Back to the Future, Crispin Glover is fantastic in a supporting role. Between HTTM and Alice in Wonderland, Glover is back in a big way. Loves it!

I won't get into a more detailed review because there are plenty of those already floating around. All I can say is that I very well might go see it again this week and I never go see movies in theatres more than once.

Do yourself a favour and check out HTTM. Unlike most comedies, the funniest stuff is not in the trailer. That is just the stuff they could actually show on TV.

Booze belongs in the kitchen!

Everyone knows that a good meal can become great when paired with the right wine, beer or big brown jug marked XXX. You won't get any disagreement here. Why wait until the food is on the table to crack a bottle though? Make it part of the cooking process. There have been numerous occasions where I am stuck for an idea of how to prepare a nice piece of meat. When that happens, I tend to head to the liquor cabinet (ok, it's the cupboard above my stove. I ain't fancy). Consider it my muse. I am always amazed how many people this catches off guard. I get a lot of "I didn't know you could do that!" Cooking is like prison basketball, there are no rules.

Here are three of the better recipes I have McGyvered, with booze being the catalyst. I will let you dictate portions and measurements. Like I said, no rules.

Old Sam Pork:
Marinate boneless pork chops in a mixture of olive oil, dark rum (I used Old Sam) and apple juice for a marinade. I added minced onion, garlic powder, a dash of chili powder and black pepper. Toss it all in a tupper wear dish or ziplock bag and let it bath. I let it sit for a couple of hours and it turned out perfect. Had a real buttery taste. The intention was to grill it on the Q but it wouldn't cooperate so I pan fried it and it was dandy! Tossed a bit of the marinade into the pan for good measure.

Baked Mexican Salmon:
Get yourself some nice salmon fillets to start. Next up...TEQUILA!!!! Don't be afraid to go heavy on the hooch because most of it will burn off in the cooking process. Get your oven preheated to 325. While you are waiting for it to heat, garnish your salmon with black pepper, chili powder, garlic powder and lime zest... oh my, plenty of lime zest. Personally, you can't have enough lime zest. It is really the key to this recipe. Bake for 20 minutes with tinfoil over the pan. Remove the tinfoil and let broil for 3-5 minutes. This recipe is like my first born, it was an accident and I love it.

Scallops Caeser:
This recipe doesn't include booze but it was inspired by it. Do you know how to make a Bloody Caeser? Clamato Juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce and celery salt. Everything you need for a caeser, minus the vodka. And you know what, toss it in if you feel like it. This is not an intervention, I won't judge. Take all that goodness, toss it in a sauce pan, get it heated then toss in your scallops. Serve it on rice, pasta, the naked torso of the Asian Med student that rents your basement... however you feel like serving it, go for it.

Those are just some of the recipes my liquor cabinet(cupboard)has inspired. Try some of your own and if the don't kill you, share them with me.

Jim James: Open to Interpretation

My Morning Jacket are not exactly mainstream just yet but they are no longer an Indie secret anymore. The bulk of the momentum has to go to MMJ frontman Jim James. He is a vocal chameleon and a pretty badass guitar player which allows the band to go any direction they want, which they do with ease. James is a man that wears many hats. Just check out his side project Monsters of Folk.

What really gets me about James though is his ability to cover some of music's sacred cows. Bob Dylan is not the toughest guy to cover but George Harrison? Not an easy task. That's nothing compared to The Band though. Their music might not have been the most complicated but for whatever reason, when artists try to cover them, it tends to sound like garbage. Not the case with James and the boys in MMJ. Hear for yourself.

Breakfast, not just for breakfast anymore!

It never really was. Honestly, when it comes to eating (which I love in all it's forms, save for maybe crow) one of my favourite things is breakfast outside of it's usual day part. Omelette for supper? Yes please! Finding a 24 hour greasy spoon for after hours bacon & eggs? Best kind!

Breakfast has been taking up a lot of space in my brain lately. Don't know why, don't care! Just know I like it. A friend of mine showed me a video the other day about an easy way to make omelettes. It doesn't require you to flip it. Instead, you toss it in the oven on broil. Clearly the guy in the video skipped Cooking 101 because that is called a frittata. Mmmm, frittata.

That lead me to a cool idea for frittatas. Instead of doing one big frittata in a frying pan, make a bunch of individual sized frittatas in muffin tins. If you are having a bunch of people over for breakfast, you can accommodate their personal tastes without it being too much of a hastle. Meatlovers, vegetarian, seafood.... the options are limitless. Here's the recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Muffin-Frittatas/Detail.aspx

As we get older, we forget some of the simple joys in life that we loved as children. One of those for me was going out for breakfast with the family. All the grown ups went for the standard fare of bacon & eggs. Nothing wrong with it but the ten year old version of me wanted nothing to do with it. Give me waffles or give me death! OK, I wasn't that dramatic but I loved waffles. I still do but sometimes I forget that. Not today though. It is International Waffle Day!!!! Do yourself a favour and remind yourself what it was like to be 10 and have waffles for lunch, for supper, whatever. Just make sure you enjoy!

PS: Here is the video of the jackhole that doesn't know the difference between omelettes and frittatas. He also made a couple of other rookie cooking mistakes in the video. Always make sure your frying pan is preheated and use water to thin out your eggs, not milk. Milk burns, water does not!

New tune Tuesday

I love this time of year. The sun is shining, the days get longer and for whatever reason, a lot of great music comes out. My theory is that they are competing for the honour of being the soundtrack of the summer. Maybe it is just me but if an album or song can be your go to in the summer, it becomes immortal. It will forever be associated with that summer.

So far, there are some early contenders. I picked up Charlie Winston's album 'Hobo' today. It is not the sound you would automatically associate with summer but that could be a good thing. It will separate it from all the players in the game.

I am still waiting on the new Drive-By Truckers album 'The Big To-Do'. It has been out for a couple of weeks but is always sold out when I go to buy it. For me, downloading will not suffice if it is going to be the soundtrack to my summer.

Other contenders are The Hold Steady (Heaven is Whenever-May 4th), Tom Petty & the Heartbreaks (Mojo - release date TBA), Gaslight Anthem (American Slang-June 15th) and Stone Temple Pilots (Self titled-May 25th).

I have heard the first singles from Gaslight Anthem (American Slang) and STP (Between the Lines) today and I have good reason to be excited. Especially for STP because the band sounds like they never missed a beat. Actually, it is maybe the best they have sounded since Tiny Music.

Bring on the summer!

A Modern Day Hero?

Most people are pretty familiar with James Lipton, host of Inside the Actor's Studio. If not the man himself, at least Will Ferrell's brilliant impersonation of him.

What you might not realize, is that in his earlier days, he was a pimp. Not in the way Kevin Smith uses the term (quite liberally if you ask me). No, I mean he was a feather-in-his-hat wearing, cane swinging, whore runner! He did this when he was young, broke (justifiable?) and living in France (arguably makes it classy?).

Lets fast forward the tale of WTF to the late 80s and put it in the world of awesome cartoons. Remember Thundercats? I do! What I don't remember (because I, until recently, did not know) is James Lipton writing the theme song. For real? A French pimp AND a cartoon theme song writer? Eat your heart out Forrest Gump!

So lets see, he is a ladies man (when money is involved at least) and creative (ditto)? Good thing he isn't funny. Oh wait!

Best time of year

If you are a hockey fan that is. With only a month left in the regular season, a lot is yet to be decided. As a Habs fan, things are looking pretty fantastic right now. Currently sitting 7th in the East but tied with Philly and Ottawa and an equal amount of games left, things seem very favouralble for Les Habitants! Especially when you consider their most lethal offensive threat, Mike Cammalleri could be back this week.

That being said, if the playoffs were to start today, the Habs would be taking on the defending champion Penguins. Something no team wants so hopefully they continue to win and advance up the standings.

The east is pretty boring this year in that it is all the usual suspects. No Florida, no Atlanta, etc. The west however is all over the map. Colorado, LA, these are teams we haven't seen in the mix for a while. And wait a second, who is that tied for first in the conference? It's Phoenix! Can that really be the case? Was it not last summer that everyone, myself included had them written off and had the moving trucks en route to the desert? And you know what, good for them! I hope they make a run this year too. If for no other reason, Shane Doan. If there is a classier guy in the league, I can't think of him. The guy is the only remaining link to the Jets and actually said he wanted the team to stay in Phoenix because he didn't want the arena staff to be out of a job. Clearly this guy is a breath of fresh air in a smokey world of high priced athletes. I would love nothing else than to see Phoenix go to game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals. Just as long as they lose that game to Montreal ; )

Just for shits & giggles, this is what the playoffs would look like if they started today:

East
Washington - Boston
Pittsburgh - Montreal
Buffalo - Philly
New Jersey -Ottawa

West
Chicago - Detroit
Phoenix - Colorado
Vancouver - L.A.
San Jose - Nashville

Soundtrack for a sunny weekend

The sun is shining and my nose is blocked up worse than a fat man on an all cheese diet. Thankfully the Drive-By Truckers new album 'The Big To Do' came out this week.

Add him to your playlist!

A couple of friends put me on to Charlie Winston about a month ago. Great voice, great sound. Enjoy!

Lookin' for adventure and whatever comes our way

Tomorrow is the first full day of Spring but with the weather we've been having, it seems like Spring is already here. One of the best things about this time of year is going for a nice long drive. And no drive is complete without a soundtrack. Certain music seems like it was written for the car. AC/DC's Back in Black is pretty much perfect for driving, as is Appetite for Destruction, Tom Petty and a bunch of other staples of Classic Rock. Don't be fooled though, the youngin's know how to write a driving tune too! Here are some of my favourites:

The Darkness - Permission to Land: The entire Permission to Land album seems like it was written with the highway in mind. Black Shuck sets the tone right out of the gate by kicking you in the preverbial teeth and the album just keeps kicking from there on out. Much like a two-four or bucket of the Colonel's finest, it is best suited for a group of buddies.

Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound: Everyone has those friends whose opinions you trust more than most when it comes to music, movies, whatever. When it comes to music, my buddy Cramer is one of those people. He kept telling me about Gaslight Anthem for about a month before I got around to checking them out. Man, if I could only get that month back. The '59 Sound is the kind of album that not only sounds great on a roadtrip, it actually makes you want to take one. It is very much in the spirit of early Springsteen, Tom Petty and The Replacements. Lofty company indeed.

The Hold Steady - Boys & Girls in America: The Hold Steady (much like Gaslight Anthem) write fantastic, no BS, meat and potatoes rock and roll. Big hooks, bigger guitars, references to Joe Strummer and girls that cat sit for their friends.... it's all there. The Hold Steady have four albums to date with a fifth on the way and depending on which one you start on, that will be your favourite. For me it is Boys & Girls in America. It reminds me of Counting Crows 'August and Everyting After' if it was written by Elvis Costello and Mike Ness.

The Killers - Sam's Town: I sort of fought liking the Killers for a while because I didn't like Mr. Brightside. I still don't really. I couldn't really fight it anymore though once they released When You Were Young. The spirit of Born to Run is all over this just without all the unnecessary saxaphone solos. That's a good thing.

Not to mention , this is one of those common ground albums between my girlfirend and myself. Albums like this are vital to a roadtrip not ending in hurt feelings and words you wish you could take back.

Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris: Any QOTSA fan worth their salt will tell you Songs for the Deaf is their best album and perfect for driving. And they would be right. But why point out the obvious? Era Vulgaris is perfect for those roadtrips made for one. Heavy, light, funky, angry, slutty... it's all on their. Actually, your life will be a lot simpler if you just realize music that involves Josh Homme = road music.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Baby 81: Even though these albums are not by 'classic' artists, they are built on a foundation of the classics. The most common comparison BRMC gets is Jesus & Mary Chain which I get. But if you aren't familiar with their stuff, how about Tom Petty meets the Stooges? I don't really know what to say other than it is perfect driving music. Kind of slutty with a 'driving' rhythm section... it just works.

One more for the road! I know I said I was going to focus on newer stuff but I had to mention this classic. Consider it a poor man's Don't Stop Believing. It is one of those songs that gets awkward stares from everyone in the car (like the Wilson Phillips scene in Harold & Kumar) but by the end, everyone will be singing at the top of their lungs and rocking some serious air guitar.

We have lift off!

Guinness, what a wonderful catalyst for... well, for this I guess. I am looking at the world through Stout coloured glasses today and you know what, I kind of like it. Especially how it makes me sound like Joe Cocker's kid brother. OK, maybe his great aunt or pet dog. Regardless, I bet those Cocker's all sound badass.

So what is this blog going to be about? What will be it's focus? Everything, which is a high falootin' way of saying nothing in particular. Sports, music, pop culture, two for one sales on TV dinners at the store across from my house... whatever tickles my fancy (and it is very ticklish!).

Speaking of Joe Cocker, in a perfect world, The Wonder Years would always be playing somewhere on my TV. Man what a great show. I just found out Winnie Cooper is pregnant... well the actress that played her. I don't like getting old. Good thing I have Guinness, it slows the world down to the perfect pace.

Happy St. Patrick's Boxing Day!
